She's been able to scale her business to incorporate that uniquely personal, artisanal custom touch in her ready-to-wear line, designed and produced exclusively in Los Angeles. ![]() Melissa started her business creating custom leather jackets for private clients which she continues to design today, earning her a loyal customer base. After obtaining her BA from the University of Michigan, she later went on to pursue her MFA in fashion design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Originally hailing from Michigan, Melissa has been living happily in design-centric California for over ten years. Since 2016, CANDICE CUOCO has operated out of Los Angeles, with a 2,300 square foot showroom/studio space in DTLA’s fashion district located at 1108 South Los Angeles Street. Her work has been worn by numerous celebrities, on the red carpet at award shows and premieres, and featured in several music videos. The San Francisco Fashion Awards have honored Candice as “Designer of the Year”, “Best Emerging Designer”, and “Most Stylish”. In 2015 Candice was a finalist on the 14th season of Project Runway, during which she won multiple challenges and was regularly selected as a top designer. Her work has also been featured in Vogue, ELLE, Marie Claire, and Glamour magazines, and was on the cover of Diablo magazine. Further up the West Side Highway, Shayne Oliver will have guests heading over to The Shed for not one but three nights of fun that will include live music, fashion, and art performances. Christian Cowan will take over the top of Vogue headquarters at the One World Observatory, making for one easy elevator ride for our editors. However, a few trips across the river will still be necessary to see Gabriela Hearst at the Agger Fish Building and Dion Lee at the Box Factory. Those worried about scrambling from Manhattan to Brooklyn and back this season can breathe a sigh of relief, since Eckhaus Latta has opted to show in the LES this season. But the week will still be as busy as ever, with six days of back-to-back appointments, shows, and screenings. ![]() Like last season, the shows will be smaller (to ensure safe social distancing), and major headliners like Tom Ford have pulled out from their official time slots on the CFDA calendar due to COVID-19.
